 Storytelling and gaming

I made changes to my opening screen. Additionally, I created a silhouette background in photoshop, I made it combining different components e.g a house trees and smoke.

I then created a raw image from the 'UI' function where I inserted my asset from photoshop after converting it into a sprite,

I also added an audio clip, I looked for spooky eerie music on YouTube which was copyright free.

I then downloaded the music and created an audio timeline into unity where I inserted it.

I also added the same image in this screen as it emphasised the fire more greatly.
For this screen I added a cartoon and a knife instead of the blood because in my opinion it generally looks more presentable.

 Storytelling and Gaming

- I decided to name my game 'Mystery Muddle'

I still intend to do more designing for the initial opening game scene page, and I created separate scenes for the 'murder' and arson' options but I need to bring them together somehow.

Overall, so far the scenes are pretty straight to the point. Although I need to add more options to do with the game now instead of just how the game is initially introduced.

Over the past few weeks I have taken various photograph's and pictures for my independent project.

I mainly used a 'Sony Hdr' video camera to capture most of these shots and I also used a tripod to help with stills and medium shots, although the camera and tripod were not heavy enough so when I did try to make a panning shot, the camera shook a lot.

Overall, the transition was not as smooth as I wanted it to be, so I instead recorded more stills of the sky and instead of moving the camera down in a single shot, I just made two separate shots from the sky to the ground and through editing I will dissolve them together.
This is an example of one of my first tries, there is a lot of shaking.

I took some videos and images using my iphone. I used an app called 'Dazzcam' to create softly contrasting effects with the colours in the images.

I also took more photos and video shots of the sky, to edit later.

I created this sketch of a girl with moon eyes , and made different copies. I then put the different sketches into a short film, to do this I made a lot of copies frame by frame and adjusted the scale and length of each one. I did firstly using flippaClip then  adobe premiere pro but I did the illustrations in illustrator.

Making this overall took around 3-4 hours.

I also used an app called flipaClip to make the purple swirls in her eyes.
Eventually, I transitioned this video into the moon video I made earlier using premiere, and I also changed a lot of the effects as to the colouring of the videos and played a lot with changing the scale.

I found that overall having a steady positioning in the xy axis that is the same for many consecutive frames made my video more fluid for when my character is talking. Before , I changes them around too much and I had issues with her body moving too much when she was talking and it made the viewing experience uncomfortable.

This is the second clip I created

-crash bug

I begun experiencing crash bugs on my laptop and I did not save all of my previous work as I should have consistently, therefore I lost all of those files.

I then started building my project all over again using similar layout from the previous ones But with a few changes.

I played some more video games including:

Shadow of the Tomb Raider

  • Designers:  Heath Smith · Daniel Drapeau· Michel Leduc St-Arnaud
    • Developers:  Eidos-Montreal · Feral Interactive

Street fighter V
Designers: Capcom , Dimps

I initially begun my last game with a starting page that didn't introduce the what the game is initially without any game art as well for hints.

These two games also allow the user to insert their name but before that, the game has a loading screen so I wanted to make that change.
